For nature-loving and outdoor enthusiasts, The Nimbus Fish Hatchery is a must-see destination during your visit to Rancho Cordova. Located 8 miles south of the city, the incubator is home to thousands of fish, such as rainbow trout, steelhead, and chinook salmon. It’s the perfect spot for a family picnic day and features a 1,400-foot-long pedestrian walking trail, picnic tables, and educational signs throughout the area. The incubator also holds a variety of events throughout the year. From educational seminars to fishing lessons for children, the incubator encourages learning about fish and the environment. There’s also a fun Summer Fishing Day which provides fun activities for kids to catch, release and learn about fish.
The Veteran’s Memorial Wall is a great way to learn about and honor the brave men and women who served our country. Located in the center of Rancho Cordova, the Memorial Wall is one of the few of its kind that honors the United States Military. The memorial includes life-size sculptures of eight elderly soldiers who proudly served in different wars, each with an engraving of their names and a brief tribute to their heroic deeds. The nearby Military Museum features an exhibit that honors all significant service branches with nostalgic photos and replicas of Military equipment. The museum also has a library of books and photographs, and artifacts related to the history and culture of the United States Military.
